Colosseum is easily reachable thanks to the underground, line B. Rome has three underground lines. The meeting point between the line A and the line B is Roma Termini: if your hotel is located near a line A point, you should reach Termini station and change line.


From Termini Train Station


By bus

Termini is the most important train station in Rome. Here you can find both the subway lines which are named “A” and “B”. To reach Colosseum you should take the “B” line, Laurentina direction. Colosseum stop is the one named “Colosseo“.

Buses are availaible to reach Vatican City. 81 (here you can see its route) or 673 (click here to see the route) up to Claudia/Colosseo. Also, you can take bus 75 (click here to see its course), 85 (route here), 87 (route here), up to Colosseo.


From Triburtina Train Station


By tram

Tiburtina is the second most important train station in Rome and you can find the subway here, too. Tiburtina station is on the “B” line. To reach Colosseum you should take the subway up to Colosseo stop, Laurentina direction.

You also can take tram to reach Colosseum. The number is 3, up to Colosseo/Salvi N., and here you can see its route.


From Leonardo da Vinci Airport (Fiumicino)


By taxi

In Fiumicino you can find a train service called Leonardo Express that will lead you to Termini train station in 32 minutes. Follow the guidelines at the top of this paragraph to know how to reach Colosseum from Termini train station.
Also, you can take taxi from the airport: it will take 40 minutes circa to reach Colosseum.

Taxi can be easily found in Rome. You can find a taxi station in Colosseum, too, and it is located in Colosseo Metro Station – corner Via Clivio di Aclio.


From Ciampino Airport


By car

In Ciampino you can find a bus service called Terravision that will lead you to Termini train station. Follow the guidelines at the top of this paragraph to know how to reach Vatican City from Termini train station.
Also, you can take taxi from the airport: it will take 40 minutes circa to reach Colosseum.

Rome offer car sharing services such as Enjoy, Uber and Car2Go. Payment parking are located nearby Via Ostilia 48 or in Via Giolitti 267

Before you visit Colosseum

There are a few things you may like to know before you visit Vatican Museums and holy places, not to have any inconvenience:

Visiors

Please note that for safety reasons the Coliseum can accommodate up to 3.000 people at once. This could lead to delays in access to the site, even for pre-booked visitors .

Safety alert

For security reasons all visitors and their luggage shall be screened. To facilitate the security checks please insert any object (including mobile phone) in the bag/backpack or in the tray to be included in the X-ray.

It is confirmed the prohibition of bringing backpacks , camping , bulky bags and luggage / trolley, can be introduced medium and small size backpacks to shoulder, which must be checked, as any other bag, with metal detectors, opened and visually inspected by the Urbe Security Institute, responsible for the entrance inspection.
